Covey uses the following technique to demonstrate how we are influenced by our experiences, and some of the limitations of our objectivity (Covey, 1982, pp. 1-2, 49, 85, 244; Covey, 1989, pp. 24-26, 45).
1. Study the picture below for a few seconds.
2. Without letting them see the picture below, have someone else look for a few seconds at the third picture.
3. Now together look at the second picture, and compare observations. Who sees the young girl and who the old woman?
